Welcome to Riverside Community Garden. Please read the following rules carefully; they exist to keep the site safe, productive, and pleasant for everyone.
Fees and membership. The annual fee of £45 is due on 1 January and must be paid by 31 January at the latest. Members who have not paid by this date will be considered to have given up their plot. Concessionary rates are available for senior citizens and students.
Cultivation. Plots must be actively cultivated throughout the growing season. If a plot appears untended for more than eight weeks and the holder has not informed the committee of exceptional circumstances, the committee may offer the plot to the next person on the waiting list.
Water. Water butts are provided at several points around the site. Because mains water is metered, hosepipes may only be used before 9 am and after 7 pm during the summer months. Sprinklers are not permitted at any time.
Bonfires and waste. Bonfires are permitted only between November and February, and only on Saturdays. Green waste should be composted on your own plot where possible; the communal compost bays are for material that cannot be composted at home.
Shared facilities. The tool shed beside the main gate is available to all members. Please clean tools after use and report any breakages to the site warden, whose contact details are posted on the noticeboard. Children are welcome on site but must be supervised by an adult at all times.
